The Team
Bret Lurz
Owner
Everlasting Fitness came to be from a desire to help people. I worked for years in customer service as an employee in a field that I was not super interested in. I did well, my customers were happy with my service but there still seemed to be something missing. I had no control over the owners or the way they did business, I could only react to the situations I was put in. Ultimately unless I was in a field that I loved I felt I would never be happy with my career. As a former athlete I was always interested in fitness and I felt I knew enough to help people. I attempted to work part time as a trainer for a couple different people and I realized that this needed to be my own. I wanted to create something special that I felt these other places did not have. Everlasting Fitness (CrossFit Everlasting) was born in 2012. I learned everyday and I loved the community that was being created. With my wife Morgan and our other fantastic coaches by our side the community has grown year after year because we care. Now that we have grown as coaches and business owners we can solve more problems and help more people. We are not your typical gym. We care and we are here to help.
Bret Lurz
OWNER, HEAD COACH, ACTIVE LIFE PRO COACH
Bret is the founder and head coach at Everlasting Fitness. As a young athlete, he participated in track and field events ranging from cross country to the pole vault. He also competed in the Junior Olympics’ high jump and hurdles and was a walk-on track and field athlete for U of Maryland, College Park. Years later, Bret began a career as a personal trainer at a globo gym. The experience left a lot to be desired as the workouts were boring and uninspired. Bret needed a change and he found it in the form of CrossFit. “I saw a CrossFit video online and decided to check it out. I walked into a box and got smoked the first day but I loved every second of it. Six months later, I earned my Level 1 and started my coaching journey at my home gym.” Bret believes training should be exciting. He wants each member to enjoy it as much as he does. “I love showing clients how fitness, nutrition and mindset can get them the results they want and be fun at the same time. It’s an eye-opening experience because once they realize it, there’s no turning back!”

Morgan Lurz
GROUP COACH, 1 ON 1 COACH, NUTRITION COACH
Morgan has been active most of her life starting with soccer and softball as well as high school cheerleading. But once she hit college, everything changed. She was no longer a paragon of fitness. She’d become inactive and complacent, which led her to start CrossFit in 2012. When Morgan initially joined Everlasting Fitness, she wasn’t searching for a coaching gig. She didn’t choose it, it chose her. “I thought I wasn’t good enough to fill the position. But I quickly realized it wasn’t about being the best. It was about encouraging and motivating every person that walked through the door. Our members are what make being a coach so exciting. Their will to learn more, push harder, and live healthier is inspiring to me.”

Meg Smith
GROUP COACH, 1 ON 1 COACH, NUTRITION COACH, MINDSET COACH, ACTIVE LIFE PRO COACH
Meg found the sport in 2009 and immediately connected with the variety, challenge, and community of CrossFit. A competitive swimmer since an early age, Meg competed at the D1 level while at the U.S. Naval Academy, but post-college decided to explore various other sports. She has taught all kinds of group exercise classes, ultimately getting certified as a CrossFit coach in 2010. Meg has, due to her family’s military lifestyle, belonged to 7 different CrossFit gyms, to include the gym she co-owned prior to moving to Maryland. When asked what she learned from her different CrossFit experiences, she said, “Ultimately, CF, when done right, gives you everything you need: quality coaching focused on sound technique, a place that accepts you but challenges you, and workouts that develop you to provide the greatest chance at living a full and healthy life. My goal is to help each athlete work out safer, harder, and with greater confidence, with the ultimate hope of knowing that someday, whether tomorrow or 40 years from now, he or she will be able to rise to a new challenge because of how they took care of their body today.” Meg is excited for the privileged title of Coach, and always looks forward to working with classes and individuals on specific athletic goals, nutrition, or a personal favorite, mindset and belief.

Jenny Huling
GROUP COACH
Jenny was first introduced to CrossFit in 2017 when she stumbled upon a “6 week fitness challenge”. She was currently going to a conventional gym and was bored with the monotony of her training. As a former USAG competitive gymnast, she was excited to find something to fuel her competitive fire again. Immediately, she was hooked. She loves that the sport is truly for anyone, at any age and skill level. Jenny has her Bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Towson University, is a Doctor of Physical Therapy from Rutgers University and holds her CrossFit Level 1 certificate. Jenny is originally from a small countryside town in New Jersey and moved to Maryland in 2015, more recently moving up to Harford County in 2019. Everlasting quickly became her “Second home” as you can’t beat the camaraderie and atmosphere. You can find her in the gym either working out or coaching!

Tyler Luby
group COACH
Tyler Luby is a coach at Everlasting Fitness, who found the sport and training methodology of CrossFit back in 2013 as he was preparing for his career as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps. As a high school athlete, Tyler competed in both swimming and track and field, specializing in sprinting events. Tyler went on to the University of Pittsburgh where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology: Health and Physical Wellness. Tyler was a coach and officer for the University of Pittsburgh’s collegiate Panther CrossFit Club. During his college years, he also competed as an amateur boxer in Pittsburgh’s Golden Gloves. After college, Tyler went on to serve 7 years in the U.S. Marines, he currently is still serving in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves, holding the rank of Captain. Coach Tyler’s philosophy on fitness is that everyone, regardless of skill, age, or background should participate in some form of fitness, and CrossFit is the greatest preventative medicine. In the same way a sports car has preventative maintenance done to it, i.e. oil changes, tires replaced, fluid levels checked to keep it performing longer and faster; CrossFit is our way to do body preventative maintenance to keep us going longer, healthier, and happier throughout life.
